Teacher John

Teacher John (also known as Eric), one of the key co-founders of EHLA, has been tirelessly pursuing innovative education methodologies for many years. His journey has been marked by collaborations with distinguished Oxford scholars, linguists, and education experts from around the world, including Hong Kong. Many years ago, some of his ideas on innovative education resonated with luminaries like the former head of the Department of Education at the University of Oxford, Pro John Furlong, and other esteemed Oxford scholars, such as linguist Adrian Bullock. Their unwavering support and encouragement played a pivotal role in shaping EHLA's trajectory.

During a visit to the University of Oxford, Eric and his brother had the privilege of sharing EHLA's initiatives with many prestigious scholar friends, the then dean of the Department of Education, and Dr. Niall Winters, co-convenor of the Learning and New Technology Research Group at the Oxford University School of Education. This meeting led to the signing of a collaborative initiative between EHLA and Oxford University Innovation Limited in March 2017.

Eric has devoted countless hours to research and the development of learning content at EHLA, working closely with Oxford linguists and a global team. In his quest to gain a first-hand understanding of the impact of integrating new technologies into learning, he assumed the role of "Teacher John." Under this alias, he stepped into the classroom to share his experiences and distill insights on enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.

Although Eric's professional background lies in international business, international business law, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and IPOs, his passion for education led him to transition from a lengthy career at one of the international "big four" accounting firms. He took the bold step of establishing a professional services organization to provide funding for EHLA's educational initiatives.

It's important to note that Teacher John's talks are not a solitary endeavor but a collaborative effort supported by the dedicated team at EHLA. He serves as a spokesperson, sharing the collective wisdom and passion of the entire EHLA team with you."
